What Is ADAS?

Advance Driver Assistance System

ADAS machine.png

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance System. These are the computer-controlled safety systems in modern vehicles that use cameras and sensors mounted on or near the windshield to help keep you safe while driving.

For vehicles newer than 2020 (approximately) that have these cameras and sensors, calibration is required any time the windshield is replaced. When the windshield is removed and reinstalled, the camera angle shifts — even slightly — which means the system can no longer accurately read the road.

Without recalibration, your ADAS safety features may be inaccurate or completely disabled — even though the system appears to be working normally.

At Glassworks Refinishing, ADAS calibration is included as standard on every eligible windshield replacement.

In this photo is an array of tools we use to calibrate vehicle windshield cameras. Item use varies per vehicle. The equipment can vary as with each vehicle style & make.
