ICBC & Insurance
Does ICBC cover windshield replacement in BC?
Yes. With ICBC comprehensive coverage, windshield replacement is covered — a deductible will apply but not effect on your policy. Rock chip repair is usually $0 with no deductible.
We file the claim directly — no paperwork for you.

Is rock chip repair really free with ICBC?
Yes — for any client with ICBC comprehensive coverage, rock chip repair is covered at no cost through their repair network across all of British Columbia. You do not need to pay your deductible for a rock chip repair.

Will filing an ICBC claim affect my insurance rates?
No. Rock chip repair claims do not affect your ICBC insurance rates. Windshield replacement claims under comprehensive coverage use deductible but do not affect your rates.

Do I need to call ICBC before coming in?
No — as an ICBC Glass Express approved shop, we open and close the claim directly on your behalf. Just call us and we handle everything.

Glass Repair
How long does a windshield replacement take?

A standard windshield replacement takes approximately 2 -3 hours. If your vehicle requires ADAS camera calibration, allow additional time. We can often accommodate same-day appointments if your are in first thing — call us to check availability.
How long does a rock chip repair take?

Most rock chip repairs are completed in under 30 minutes. Same-day availability most days.
Can all rock chips be repaired?
+
Most chips can be repaired if they are smaller than a loonie, have not flared out & are not in the driver's direct line of sight and in that area has smaller parameters. Some cracks are past a repairable stage and the windshield would need to be replaced. We assess every situation and give you an honest answer — no unnecessary up sells.
What happens if my vehicle needs to wait for a part?

If your vehicle needs to wait for a part to arrive, we vacuum up the broken glass if it is a door or back window put pressure-sensitive plastic over your window so you can drive away with your window sealed from the weather.
Do you work on vintage and classic car glass?

Yes — we specialize in hard-to-source glass for vintage and classic vehicles. We once sourced the only available used rear window in Canada for a 1982 Mercedes. We also handled a vintage 1960s Ford pickup using old school techniques, as can do the rubber seal windshields.
ADAS Calibration
Do I need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?

Yes, for vehicles newer than approximately 2020 with cameras and sensors mounted on or near the windshield. When the windshield is removed and reinstalled the camera angle shifts — re calibration ensures your safety systems work correctly. We include a ADAS windshield camera calibration as standard on every eligible windshield replacement.
What ADAS systems require calibration?

Lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring and parking assistance all rely on windshield cameras and sensors — all require windshield cameras re calibration after a windshield replacement.
Is ADAS calibration included in the price?

Yes — at Glassworks, ADAS windshield camera calibration is included as standard on every eligible windshield replacement. .

Do you offer a shuttle service between Vancouver and Vernon?

Yes — we offer a high-end trailer shuttle service for vehicles that need work at our Vernon auto body and glass facility. If you can part with your vehicle for a bit, we trailer it from Vancouver to Vernon and return it in immaculate shape.

Do you do collision repair?
Yes — our Vernon location offers full collision repair, dent removal, rust repair and paint matching. We strive to bring your accident-damaged vehicle back to its pre-accident state.

Do you restore vintage and classic cars?
Yes — we do complete vehicle restorations including paint stripping, rust removal, metal work, primer, original or custom paint and clear coat. We have restored Datsun 240Zs, Corvettes, Jeeps and more.

Do you do custom paint?

Yes — we offer manufacturer colour matching, custom colours, matte and satin finishes and clear coat options. Owner Gil Schimmelpfennig early on also spent 10 years as a sign painter and weekend Auto Restoration — giving him a precision eye for colour that most shops simply don't have.
